I need to cover my Scamp for Winter

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a trailer cover? I purchased one through Scamp that had to be repaired each Spring because it tore along the fabric line between the side panels and the white roofing.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only better option I know of is Calmark. Be prepared for sticker shock. I've never used one, but I believe they're around $600. Very well made by all accounts.

For many years I "covered" my Scamp for the winter with a good coat of marine wax every fall (and again in the spring). Two coats on the roof, one on the sides.

She now has a snug berth in a garage with a 9' door.

Saw your title,
I need to cover my Scamp for Winter
and I had to laugh.. because, no you don't.

In fact it is probably true that summer sun does more damage than anything in winter. Frequent waxing and treating rubber items will protect from UV damage. Tires covers are good. A/C covers protect from sun light and bird nesting.

IMHO, the best options for low maintenance are a climate controlled garage, a non-climate controlled garage, a good carport, a Calmark cover, a temporary carport cover (strengthened and with cover removed when weather is bad). Winter won't kill your camper (except for maybe very extreme snowfalls in which case a cover would not make any difference).

If you get snow you will need to remove it.

for years now i just use a Large Car cover ... no special brand just need to make sure it will fit and lots of times i find them at discount stores or Goodwills for like $20. They last about 4 or 5 years.

Calmark Cover

When I bought my new-to-me 2007 Casita Spirit Deluxe 3½ years ago, the original owner included a Calmark cover that has a zippered roll-up for the door.

I use the cover inbetween trips and during winter storage. It has held up **extremely** well.

wife is real fussy trying to make hospital corners when tieing it all down on the ends and under the belly. and I know knots so getting it off is no big deal. We did buy Tarp clips to put tie downs where we needed them from Tractor Supply but can be found at any big box store.

I had used this with bungee cords for the first winter season after purchasing the trailer early last year:

Park Ridge Products TRP1216CAMO Park Ridge 12 x 16 ft Heavy-Duty Reversible Poly 10 mil All Purpose Tarp, 12' x 16', Camo/Green

It had cost $38.52

*note that it was 10 mil heavy-duty

Yup.. that will buy a lot of wax and rubber protectant. Or if you can put up a carport, a nice downpayment on it.. and it is the prefered way to go.

Low cost option

If you can live with just covering it once at the end of the season and not having to get back in a number of times before you take it out in the spring. My suggestion is get yourself a tarp with grommets all around the edges and some nylon rope. Weave the rope in and out through the grommets. Then you throw the tarp over the top of the trailer and you cinch it up like a garbage bag at the bottom. Not very convenient, but cheap and effective.

The problem with a poly tarp is that you first have to wash the trailer thoroughly to ensure there is no grit on it, then wax it, then tarp it. After a good wax job, you probably will be too tired to do the tarping.

Never have covered my scamp and never had a problem. I actually will use it for incidents in the winter.

This one seems good.
Casita 16'-17' Prestige 4 Layer Trailer Cover

I priced CalMark & it was $900. To much.
