Intermittent beeping on '95 Scamp 13

Hi, I'm new owner of a Scamp and when my wife and I were checking the fit of some new curtains, we heard a "beep beep beep" coming from the cabinet next to the door that houses the a/c. Thinking it so be a smoke detector we searched and could not find one. The Scamp is in storage and therefore does not have the battery connected. So we're still thinking smoke/methane detector that has run out of battery power, but don't know where it's located.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Enjoy the hunt!

It may well be that a former owner had a battery operated alarm in it some place. By the time you find it, you will know EVERY hiding place in your Scamp. Please let us know where you find it.

It will eventually quit beeping when the last of the juice in the little battery gets used up

From what I was reading, it looks like Scamp did not install smoke detectors, which means that it will be where the person decided to install it.

Possibly a propane alarm, CO alarm, or smoke detector. Start searching.

I am fairly new also... and the beeping is the battery.... mine happened over the summer and I just plugged it in... stopped right away.

Congrats on the new egg!

short of pulling out the a/c in the lower part of the cabinet, we could not find the source of the beeping. I've messaged the previous owners hoping they can solve the mystery since it sounds like this is not a standard Scamp feature. I'll pass along anything I find out.

thanks for the replies

Unrelated to this issue, but I’ll tell the story anyway. Once upon a time in Milwaukee we were looking for an alarm in a radio station and after some time my co-workers noticed that there was only an alarm if I was in the room. It turned out that the GPS receiver in my pocket was alarming due to loss of signal when I was in the transmitter room.

That one was not a tracker, but I do now have multiple trackers and four tiles. I have complete control of all. My Scamp is tracked secretly 100 % of the time. The tow vehicle is tracked and open to the public when I turn in on, and it draws a nice map of my trips (including wrong turns). I can also claim to be places Iím not. If you go to APRS.FI and search ac0gv in the upper right corner, you will see where I last claimed to be.
