Inverter Problem

We are running a 19ft Escape, 2015, 150 volt solar. Last year and the year before, when we turned on the inverter, we could use the microwave for up to 5 minutes, even when the batteries were low. Now, when we try and use it, the whole thing turns off after 2 seconds, no matter how full the battery charge is. We have not changed anything in the last year, so if anyone has ideas we would be grateful.

We checked the water level in the batteries (2 - 6 volt) and they are fine, they seem to charge with the solar well, and the tug or the land line. The only thing it is doing is the administrative work of the fridge (which is on propane right now). Any suggestions would be appreciated, particularly since we are on the road right now and have very spotty cell or wifi service.

Thanks loads, in advance.

Is your inverter trusine or modified?
What is the AC voltage output of the inverter?
What is the wattage rating of the inverter?

Does it run with the microwave off?
Does it produce a lot of RF interference?
Will it run a small 110V load?

You can get a VOM at Harbor Freight for next to, or actually nothing.

It sounds like the inverter is shutting down because of low voltage. Could be bad batteries or loose connections. Undersized wiring will also cause the problem, but since it worked before, that is unlikely.

One way to check is to put a volt meter on the 12V terminals at the inverter & again at the 12V connections at the batteries (be sure to connect the volt meter to the battery terminals, not the connecting wires). If both show under 11 volts with the microwave running, it is likely the batteries. If the low voltage is only at the inverter, check the connections.

Of course, it is also possible that the inverter has gone bad...
