I've been reading through some posts and I really appreciate your support and including us in some of your comments. Thank you. You've been very kind.
To answer your question...
I have not spoken to WeisCraft in quite some time. I have also tried to call. I stayed in touch with them all of last year but have not been able to make contact for about 6 months. I may be reaching out to them when I am in Colorado next.
My relationship with WeisCraft is a little confusing (even to me
. What officially set things in motion for GoBE a few years back was when I paid to have a new bottom mold built. I was interested in that size shell but wanted to get the wheel wells out of the bottom mold. I also wanted to do a complete redesign of the camper, etc. We were originally going to try and build units in Colorado and work out some type of partnership with Weiscraft but that plan did not work out. I ended up moving my operation back to Iowa and setting up shop.
Essentially, there is the set of Litehouse molds that WeisCraft owns and there is now a new bottom mold that I paid for and own. WeisCraft built a few campers over the last 18 months or so and on those campers, he used the new bottom mold. The new bottom mold was something that he always wanted to do and I was not interested in building campers without a new bottom half. So now we are sort of in this gray area. I will be building campers and if I can make this thing profitable, I will likely send WeisCraft some sort of commission on each camper or send him some type of payment for the molds. I would prefer to keep using the top mold for now as building a new mold is very costly.
The GoBE shells are much stiffer than the WeisCraft shells because we have designed them to have a roof load as all our campers come with a roof rack. There is not a single item or process that is done the same on the GoBE as the WeisCraft (just to clarify). It's a different animal but because the GoBE spawned from the WeisCraft, I can be of assistance to those WeisCraft owners that may need some help and I would be happy to do that.
I'm now I'm set up in small production set-up. GoBE is here to stay. Regardless of viruses or economic conditions, I will continue building GoBE Campers well into the future. I will try to visit the forum more often but I can always be reached @
