Lift Mechanism for Campster Pop-Up

Hi Fellow Campster Owners:

I'm in need of one [4-roller] mechanism that hooks onto the spring for the lift bars that support the popup (where two of those plastic rollers glide inside that metal track that is screwed onto the 1/2 board at each side of the popup).

My broken one fell partially out of the track due to the fact that one of the plastic wheels is shattered.

Any leads? I'll include a photo if no one knows what I'm talking about...THANKS so much for any response.

Check VW camper supplies- it's the same kind that was on the pre- 1968? Camper van. But good luck- I just looked at a few that used to have them and no rollers- so they may be hard to find.

You might need to look for replacements in Australia! Similar pop-up tops are popular there, so there is a selection of sizes available. Replacing the whole mechanism might be easier than attempting a repair.

For example:

Breha Canopy Lift Mechanism

If you search for Breha Canopy Lift in Google Australia, you'll find lots of suppliers.

An Australian dollar is about 88 US cents and you'll need to convert to millimetres (1 inch = 25.4 mm)

IF you should find the parts you need, please post where you got them and the part numbers. It would be helpful for those looking for the same thing.

Jan, post some pictures of your broken parts so we know exactly what you're hunting for. Many of us have piles of parts that are "still good, so why trash them?" lurking in our shops.....

The slide parts are like the roller slides used in mechanic tool boxes.

Would the plastic rollers be similar to what is used in car or truck window lift mechanisms? With a good original to measure you should be able to get a machinist to make one on a lathe using aluminum or steel stock.

One of the Hunter owners on this site posted about making a new set of roof lifts using heavy duty drawer guides from home depot. Looked like a good idea to me and a lot closer than Australia.....
