I'm making good headway prepping the trailer for the new plywood and epoxy. Now I need to figure out how to transfer the rounded corners of the trailer to the pieces of plywood that need to be glued in place. Sadly, I didn't pay a whole lot of attention in math class.

Okay, that's what Paul is doing right now, today! HE was able to salvage the original floor -- well, all but the front piece, and got some old plywood from a neighbor. He laid the originals down on the "new/old" and traced around it, then cut it, and laid it loose inside and tweaked and marked and trimmed it.
He had it in and out of the trailer several times.

Finally he even added bits of cardboard where
the original was too small; then he traced it onto the good ply (being sure which side went UP) and cut carefuly with a jigsaw. The big back piece needed only one cut, for length, as it fits on the amerigo floor at 4 feet wide, so no other cutting. Nice. .

BUT...you can make patterns out of cardboard or even heavy paper...You can use brown grocery bags if you have them, even. tape it together if you have to. Remember which direction and how big your ply is...(most is 4 x 8) -- there's really no math involved, just make your pattern oversized to start with, and nip away at it in place, kind of.

I hope this is clear enough? It's easier in person...

Let us know how this goes!

BEST

The best way I have found is a method I stole from boatbuilding blogs using a thing called "joggle sticks". I am going to try to post a link ( so far I have never been successful at posting links ). If the link doesn't work just google boatbuilding with joggle sticks. Lee joggle stick ( miracle it worked )

Hi, Lee Senn and all:

JOGGLE STICKS -- Yes, I rmember this! We saw this online a while back. We were lucky in that we had most of the old pieces, though we hated letting them touch anything. AND, while this works great, you can also use cardboard and/or heavy paper and put an oversized piece in there and then cut away and tape on pieces until you get it right, too. Not as elegant, but it works.

You did great with your link! Worked super! And again, agree, it's a great way to make a pattern.

Paul has the whole floor fit, cut, and in place now; next comes fiberglassing the edges. WOW!

That's brilliant. Thank you. Being a visual learner, I went looking for a video and found this one on YouTube. This one is called a tick stick but appears to be the same gizmo.

I'm taking most of this weekend off to cook a pig for a wedding. I'll be back on it the following Saturday.

ID:	93574 I did manage to get a little work done in between cooking events and parties. I have 2 of the three pieces of floor cut to size. The joggle stick worked brilliantly. Click image for larger version

Just a little footnote on the joggle sticks, although all the photos, videos and info on the sticks showed them with the notches I just cut them with plain old square tails and they seemed to perform quite well in that format. Not a big deal but might make cutting the joggle sticks a little easier. There will be some overlap of the sticks but not that difficult to deal with. Lee

Yes. I had the notches in the wrong places and ended up making a tick mark on the stick as my guide.

ID:	93836I'm not sure what this gizmo does. It's part of the wiring for the running lights. The Litehouse has a 6 pin connector.

ID:	94239The epoxy coated marine plywood is installed and epoxy glued into place. I was thinking of putting something more modern than the original vinyl over it but when I got to Lowes, I found a 1/2 price piece that is almost a duplicate of what was originally there.

I'm doing a little finish sanding on the inside and starting on sanding the two patched holes on the outside. I hope to hook the running lights back put today and pull it to a convenience store vacuum cleaner this afternoon.

I'm out-of-pocket for the next few days but plan on starting the reinstall of the benches and cabinets next week. The cushion project is still looming.

ID:	94244This is the new hole for the battery cables. The other one is where the tow harness comes in. Previously I brought the cables in from under the trailer using the former battery vent hole. #LiteHouse

ID:	94474#LiteHouse - progress. Ignore the test dirt. Of course, looking at the photo, I realized I had forgotten to run the trailer light wires prior to pop rivets and caulk.

ID:	94520I discovered this product here on FiberglassRV when researching an earlier project. It's my go-to sealant. All the holes are getting a bit of this prior to setting the rivet.
