LiteHouse trailer manual -- help

I just purchased a 13 ft. (10 ft inside) molded fiberglass trailer called LiteHouse from an elderly gentleman who managed to lose the owner's manual and other info. I'm hoping to find another owner, or source of a xerox copy!

I understand that only a very few (80-ish) of these were built around 1996 before the company went bust. I think that they were located in Nevada?

Thanks for any advice!

I'm a recent widow, and disabled (arm amputee). It will be an adventure to see if I can figure out how to manage this contraption myself.

Hi Dena!

Wow, you got a LiteHouse! :banana They were manufactured in (near) Albuquerque, New Mexico. We went to the plant and seriously considered buying one, prior to getting our first Casita. (This was probably about 1995.) I can't help you with a manual, but the unit we looked at was pretty simple (it had a sink, but no stove or refrigerator). I may still have the sales literature we picked up at the time. (I'll see what I can find.)

I'd love to hear more about your LiteHouse! They were neat little trailers, designed to be towed by SMALL cars.

Welcome aboard - so glad you found us!

Hello!

:wave Hi, Dena, and welcome! Hopefully, someone on this site will be able to help you find the paperwork you're looking for.

As for your comment: I'm a recent widow, and disabled (arm amputee). It will be an adventure to see if I can figure out how to manage this contraption myself. Absolutely, you can and you will! One of the wisest people I ever knew (my dad) taught me through his own actions that we are only limited by ourselves. You can do anything anyone else can do...you may have to do it differently, but you can do it. It's just a matter of desire and logistics. You've got the desire, the logistics will come.

Congratuations...I am so excited for you!

Albuquerque it was, indeed. I recall looking at a couple in 1995, but I no longer have the sales brochure. Originally designed by an older camping couple who were tired of setting up tents and crawling into them. The basic model had no accessories beyond door, windows and sleeping platform, just a fiberglass "tent" on wheels up off the ground.

First one I saw was in a state park nearby, being used by a single person in a wheelchair (left wheelchair outside, of course).

Lite-House

Well I did find my sales brochures. The Base Camp model was the one we looked at. They also had one they called Trailer-for-Two, and for 1997 they were introducing their Grand Camp.

The Trailer-for-Two had a stainless steel sink, 2-way galley pump, 9 gal. fresh water tank, 35 lb. Glacier II ice box, removable kitchen drawer, 2 burner brushed chrome range, brushed crome range cover, and an 11 lb. capacity propane tank. Also, 12v 34 AH deep cycle battery in a sealed compartment, and a Thin-Lite flourescent light over the dining table.

Lite-House was proud of their birch plywood dining table and cabinet doors (the table had folding legs so could be taken outside -- none of the post in a post hole-type receptacles like on the ''C'' trailer --). The Base Camp we looked at was finished fiberglass interior, with vinyl flooring. This old brochure for the Trailer-for-Two says it came with a soft fabric wall covering...

Anyway, Dena, if you're interested in these brochures, I can send them to you! Which model Lite-House do you have?

FWIW, Lite-House Campers, Inc. was located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico (Albuquerque area).

Man!

Man, I knew I should have married Mary instead of Pam!

Pam throws away my stuff as soon as I bring it into the house.

Mary can find a brochure ... for a trailer she didn't buy ... that she picked up six years ago.

Mary, I'm impressed!

Not only that

Not only that, but Mary's willing to part with this brochure she's been saving for so many years ...

Wow!

Hey, tell Skip I'm looking for a 1966 Car and Driver, featuring the hemi-cuda.

Also missing

Also also missing a couple of pin-ups from 1964.

No, Morgan, not Miss September type pin-ups. I'm talking pin-ups from vintage trailers.

You know, Charles, I thought of you when I posted this. My computer room looks like some of the pics I've seen of the back of your Suburban!

Pin-ups?

I have no idea what you are talking about...

but I have a feeling it has nothing to do with Lite-Houses!

Stuff stacked

Ah, stuff is sorted and stacked by date you picked it up ... most recent stuff on top?

That's my filing system in my computer room too.

Pam came in here this morning and jumped me for having boxes from old network cards laying on the floor.

I tried to explain that value to collectors is often double when you also have the original box.

She didn't buy it.

But Mary, I am impressed you are willing to part with the brochure!

Dena! Take her up on her offer!

What would Charles do?

>>But Mary, I am impressed you are willing to part with the brochure!

You don't think I should hang onto the original and send a copy? :hap2

pin-ups

>>pin-ups

No, I really do collect pictures of fiberglass trailers. Figured since you had six year old brochures laying around, you might have ...

>>send copy

If you kept it, you could someday open up a museum dedicated to old brochures of molded fiberglass trailers.

Probably won't go over big with the public, but I'll go through it!

How old do you think I am?

My interest in travel trailers began somewhat AFTER I was in fourth grade.

You want a picture of a Lite-House for your collection, since they're no longer made? They'll be vintage someday... Of course, if Dena can post a photo of hers, that'd probably be better than anything on these brochures!

Mary, Dena posted her home address on here and I felt it should not be that public. I will email it to you so you can send the information to her.

Sorry for the accidental total deletion.

Save those original color brochures! One of the Yahoo-Scampers was justing mulling about a coffee-table book on Fiberglass Trailers.
