Lock it up!

HI. I have a 1984 U Haul, 13’. The door will not lock from inside or out!
I will appreciate any help anyone can provide. Had it repaired some time ago but locksmith out of business.

That is a Bargman L300, long out of production. You may find one or parts on eBay. As I recall on the one we had, the key had to be halfway in it's rotational travel (vertical I think) when removed, to be able to lock the latch on the inside. Why you can't lock it from the outside with the key I'm not sure, does the key turn. Maybe the part of the lock cylinder that moves the lock is broken. The whole assembly is easy to remove, but I can't say what the problem is without seeing it.

You can send a picture, or post some here where others may see the problem. Does the key turn? The latch will have to be apart, inner and outer separated, to see if there is a problem with the mechanism.
