The rope is cheap , easy to operate , works in all weather conditions and I have never lost signal .
I use the same method with my pontoon boat . It too is securely and safely fastened to my dock with 1/2 “ rope sans the hatchet knot .
I once knew a farmer who returned home from vacation to find someone had stolen about a dozen mature walnut trees which lined his driveway.

Casita 17’. We use one of those locks wh fit up into the tongue socket plus a lever lock and I wrap the chains around all that and lock them in place tight with 2big ole heavy duty Master padlocks, wh are easy to see. The casual thief will not fool with 4 separate lock systems IMHO. If we are in a remote area I Put a lock on both tires so that one spare us not enuf

Have you ever been worried about your trailer being stolen? The best way to keep a trailer from being stolen is probably to keep it attached to your trailer. But I'll show you some simple steps to lock a trailer so it can't be stolen. The first is to secure your trailer with a link lock and latch lock. , making it impossible for thieves to run away with the trailer. You can install a GPS tracker in your trailer or paint your trailer with fluorescent pigments.

The hitch locks won't deter any thief because they don't need to hitch up to your trailer to steal it, they just wrap a chain around the hitch and tie it onto the truck hitch and off they go.
I have a chain that I slip though the webs on the rim of the tire and around the axle and have a good heavy pad lock on it!

I do the same, but with a cable from The Home Depot.
