Loose door holder rivets

I figure water must be getting in behind these rivets (see picture) and going inside the door. I'm thinking that unless there is another way to do it, I should drill out these blind rivets, let them fall inside the door and re-rivet. But is there a better method? Thanks.

Unless you can get to the inside of the door skin, you are correct you will have to drill and rivet. If you do, try to get closed-end rivets and put butyl tape on the flanges before riveting onto the door. That should seal everything up nicely for the future!
