Lost a stabilizer leg!
I drove my 1997 Scamp 13 from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale this week and discovered that the curbside rear stabilizer leg had fallen off en route. I still have the swing arm “thigh” part but nothing below the knee. My question - is this a fairly standard item I might find at a RV store in Florida or will I need to order from Eveland’s when I get back? Thanks!

Lost a stabilizer leg!
Should be standard issue from RV shop or online. Scamp 13 uses the smaller 18” size. You’ll have to replace the whole thing, not just the leg.

I'd check to see if the "upper part" of your Atwood stabilizer is welded to the frame. If it is welded, (as this is the most common installation method for many of these small trailer manufacturers,) you may have a lot more work ahead of you than you think, in cutting and grinding off the upper part of the Atwood at the hinge. I burned and ground mine off when I replaced my stabilizers with 4 scissor jacks, and it was no fun for sure. And I have a lot of varied and different power tools and shop equipment at my disposal. The biggest challenge was getting enough room to work with tools and move around while burning, cutting and grinding the old ones off. They are generally hard to get to since many trailer manufacturers welded them in place during the frame weld-up before the trailer shell was attached to it.

Scamp bolts it on. Easy peasy.

Thanks everyone! I will improvise a stabilizer using wood as I travel near RV part stores around S. Florida and check if they have a pair. I’m chary of having Amazon deliver to a State Park on the right day.
I sure hope the dropped leg didn’t cause a problem for drivers in my wake!

Before I picked up a pair of bolt on stabilizers for my Scamp 13' , I just bought a single light weight car jack a wrecking yard. Light, clean and new, and cheap. In the center or side of the bumper it leveled and stabilized, especially when still hooked up to PU. Later I added a second jack, they would lift and stabilize even when unhooked, and pack away easily.

Careful that you don't damage your bumper or your frame with a jack. A stabilizer is only intended to keep the trailer from rocking ( stable ). It's not intended to jack up the trailer.

Right ! My point was that the jack was lighter and cheaper, and could be moved around to stabilize the trailer. Plus, on the frame ( not Axle ! ) it can lift the trailer for a tire change. David Scamp 13', headed for Quartzsite soon.
