We did not receive the stabilizer tool when we purchased our Casita. I use an old 3/8" diameter extension bar. It is really too short, and being a smaller diameter it slips around enough that I have often been grateful several times to have my gloves on.

Those stabilizers can actually be released and lowered by pressing in at the top from the outside. However, I generally put on my gloves and grab them to unlatch them.

It helps that I carry a piece of closed-cell carpet padding for all the "kneeling" work associated with the stabilizers and hitching. It keeps me out of the puddles or dirt, and off the hot asphalt as applicable.

It's large enough that I can get underneath and take a good squint at the 7-pin connector to see that the latch has engaged properly.

When done, I brush it off, roll it up, secure it with a bungie and leave it in the top of the towing gear duffel bag. Being that it cost nothing, it's one of my favorite pieces of camping gear.

Now if I can just find a piece of 1/2" rod stock for the same price...

Mike; I carry a foam garden kneeling pad, and also I got a couple packs of foam work mats that are similar to those puzzle play mats for kids. I use them for padding between stuff I pack in the truck, on the tailgate when I climb in, and on the ground too. But they don't roll up. A few years ago I bought a pair of stabilizers from etrailer, had to buy the bar tool extra. It is 1/2" dia. and only 12" long. I prefer my big old screwdriver because of the wood handle and it's only 3/8 dia. shaft

A handy stabilizer tool is a 12" nail/spike (sold separately) at HD.

Both! I keep paint on them for looks and oil/grease to keep them working.
