Money saving tip

Everybody I know wants to save some cash when he can...&..making something do double duty or re-purposing a thing seems to be one easy way. We just found a cheap, workable alternative to one of the most common RV accessories: fancy vinyl "sun guards" for tires. $10 bucks average each on Amazon.

Anyways, I was going thru a bunch of cleaning cloths today, while we were putting on our RV cover..ran into something we could use..a torn twin bed sheet.
I cut it in half and slipped the "elastic end" of each 1/2 sheet up and over the tire and saw that it fit fine..I folded the bottom end neatly up against the tire and put a half-brick on either side to hold it down..makes a FREE sun guard for the tires. ..while keeping a bit of plastic out of a landfill!

Just wondering if the sheet will block the UV rays. Seems like the vinyl would do a better job keeping the UV at bay...

Most fabrics, unless treated, block varying portions of the UV light hitting them. That is how you can still get a sunburn in places covered by a shirt.

Well, now, if you had a somewhat worn waterproof bed sheet/mattress protector, that might work even better.

Good innovating!

Agree, though, plain fabric might not do much...

BEST
