Need Cloud Advice

Greetings all,

We are new to the fiberglass camper world. Found a 1972 Cloud and fell in love. We are doing some refurbishing and could use any advice or resources people might have regarding this apparently rare breed.

Specifically we are hoping to find out about flipping or rotating the axle, as the ground clearance is minimal. Also, does anyone know about finding a manual for her? Will post some before and after photos as things progress.

I can't address either of your questions specifically, but I just wanted to mention (which you may already know) that there are a few trailers out there that are "clones" of the Cloud. They won't be exactly the same, but there is a very strong family resemblance.

I'll list them in order of how many were (I think) made:

Burro
U-haul
Companion

Both the Burro and the U-haul have more extensive fiberglass liners (all furniture and walls except for a front-to-back center roof strip) than the Cloud (which I believe has a half liner?). I will guess the Companion does not have a full liner, but I'm not sure (I have seen them with carpeted walls).

You can upgrade your axle (including brakes!) without too much trouble with the help of your local Dexter axle representative.

I've found the corporate office to be much help to me in my renovation projects.
