Sometime during 82 Scamp changed over to the 17digit VIN. It should be stamped on top of your RH frame rail near the coupler and jack. 80's Scamps came with 1 7/8" couplers. Looks like you have a 84-85 since ratfur was first installled around 86. Removing a Scamp from its frame is a major and delicate job. It is best to keep the frame in place and deal with the floor sections one section at a time.

I do not believe that the earlier model Scamps had a 2" ball - my 1992 16' still had the 1-7/8" ball. Perhaps the tongue and hitch have been replaced which may have resulted in the VIN being cut off or welded over.

If you post a photo of the rear of the trailer - the taillights will give a better idea as to possible vintage as that is also an item that Scamp has changed the shape of with time.

1-7/8" ball was used on all Scamp13s until after the fire in 2006.
Did you get a title with the purchase?

It has a 2in ball The man I bought it from bought it from got the hull and frame from the same person I think the frame was bought to repair a broken frame. thise is the reason the frame was not under camper .Some repair work has been don THE FLOOR HAS BEN REPLACED. BUT I HAD TO TAKE IT ALL OUT. it was one bad repair job. The only inside fiberglas I got was the sofa frame. the tail lights has ben replaced. it has ben repainted but you can still see the word scamp. after 10 days of work I have it useable. thanks for all the help I belive it is maybe a 84 or85. thanks thunter
