Kenny, Thank you for the response, and for the information. A friend of mine was able to get the rock guard down for the winter. I don’t think he used the technique you describe above! I am very sure that both struts need to be replaced. I think these are not original ones because I see another hole on each side of the rock guard where previous struts had been attached.
Come next Spring, I have quite a bit of updating to do. A little

battery, probably new
propane tanks, a new backsplash, and the window sliders cleaned out and made smooth again. Probably many more things. The poor sweetie has been neglected for the last three years while we dealt with some sad family issues, but I’m anxious to get out in her again.
