New Brown water drip stains!

We recently purchased an '90 scamp. Cleaned it all up - removed black streaks, scoured paint splatters, washed and waxed. Planned to wax it 4-5 more times but went camping first for 3 days. Now the perfectly clean and shiny top has brown drip stains!

What caused them? How to get rid of them?

We used a liquid RV wax (dry then buff) - should we be using other stuff? (Just happened to have this from previous campers)

Stuff off of trees maybe? Or if you stopped under an awning at a gas station in rain or just after a rain? Could be a lot of things.

There have been many discussions about how to remove brown stains, and many suggestions. What has worked very well for me is to apply an OxyClean (brand or generic) paste to the stains with the trailer in full sunlight. It helps to do several applications because once the paste dries out completely, it stops working very much. As long as it is damp, it keeps working. So I suggest that you try that first before drastic steps like rubbing compound. Also note that wax finishes can in some cases stain, and the stain is not really in the gel coat. I advocate a teflon-based marine polish that does not leave a thick layer of wax that can be stained.
