How long does it take after a sale ad is sent before it is posted?

It should be pretty much immediate.

Then again this may be different for new members. The moderators may want to check the listing.

Thanks, I was starting to wonder if I screwed up it didn't send it. It is pretty user friendly so I am giving myself the benefit of the doubt!

It should be immediate. I don't think there's anything different about posting in the trailer For Sale forum than in any of the other forums that are open to members. The commercial site forum may be different.
