Newer Scamp Lower Fridge vent S-183

Does anybody have a newer Scamp with the Dometic S-183 lower vent on it? The vent can be seen here:
Dometic S-183 Lower Vent (RM2193, RM2202)

The details state: 20 7/8" wide x 11 1/8" high

Is that the outside dimensions or the cutout size?

Those are the outside dimensions, I think the cut-out is about 19x9" or somewhere close to that. That is the 'new' style access hatch with attached 'piano' type hinge. I have the older RM183 hatch with the detachable 'hurricane' style hinge on my '84 Scamp 13. The door was missing when I bought my Scamp but the frame was still in place so I went to considerable effort to find the same RM-183 in order to not hafta replace the frame with the new S-183. Either will work fine & the S-183 may actually be a little better as you're not likely to lose it if the latch disengages while going down the road. The used RM183 that I obtained has been 'well used' & is not as sturdy as the perfect condition one that I have on my old P/U camper so I'll probably use that one for travel.

A few pix of the hatch opening, details of the 'hurricane' type hinge (both on door & frame), & the used RM183 door

Thanks Harvey,
I've retreived the hatch door from my VT-24-1 vent that met its demise on a major highway. I posted a picture of the damage here last year.

The specs for my fridge said the RM183 or 183 is what was used in the USA. The 20 7/8 would not cover the rivet holes from the original vent. Carol H has sent me her measurements for her RM183, and that appears to work.

Maybe I will be as lucky with Dr. Georges as you were, they did not seem that happy that I was in Canada. I tried them earlier but they did not have anything close. But then that was by email and not by phone. Can I ask what they charged you for yours?

Roy, I've somehow misplaced the paperwork from Dr George but I'm thinking it was around $35 shipped?? They had another that appeared to be in near perfect condition but it was considerably more money. Since I already have a RM183 on my old P/U camper I ordered the more used one. Some of the louvers need re-shaping but I think it'll work OK. Good luck with yours...
