Cool No drip pan Dometic 4.2 Scamp 16'

Hi guys, took our brand new Scamp layout 6 out this week; only issues were with the fridge. Outside temps were down to 45 one night, rest at the 48-50 mark. Froze veggies at the 4.5 setting, my liquid meds seemed to be fine. We caught trout, and flies and mosquitos bit us; I asked the dh to check out putting fine mesh screen behind the outside fridge access panel. When he opened it up, there was H2O all over the pressboard below the wires and hose. I found the correct thing for him to use as a drip pan, but shouldn't one have been there? Perhaps my setting the fridge too cool was problem, but still! Any of my great new friends got the answer? Thanks, Carol

We have the Dometic RM2410 in our 2005 Scamp, so it's probably different than yours? We have never noticed any water on the exterior of the refrigerator, and the only drip pan with ours is on the inside under the freezer fins.

In thinking about your problem I suspect that the "cold" lines from the chiller section are exposed behind the box and iced up, then thawed. Maybe an email to Dometic will provide a way to wrap those lines to prevent icing in colder weather

As John mentioned, I have never seen an external drip pan for a Dometic either.

Let us all know if you get a solution.

Did it rain? I had water come into that press board and leak into the floor in front of the fridge. You need to put in the foam seal that came with the fridge. With my 2014 scamp it came in the minnella envelope with fridge specs. That seal is applied to the inside vents. Once it is applied it will stop water from weeping into the inside. Good Luck, Carl.

In addition to rain that Carl mentioned on the Dometic in our Casita there's a tray under the finned area in the refrigerator section that has a hose that goes out the rear and then down through the bottom of the camper shell.

Turn up your temperature setting , the freon is evaporating before it gets to the evaporator , and make sure that the sensor in the fridge is not blocked by something in the fridge and causing the unit to cool when not needed. There should be no moisture on the outside of the fridge unless your interior drain is plugged or leaking or the temp. control is not working and the unit is running all the time.

Thanks for the replies- I knew where the other drip pan was. Just cold weather and combined with my DH setting the temp control at 5 . Perfect setting turned out to be 3 this time of year. I kinda yelled when my veggies froze-who wants frozen celery, lettuce. Carol
