This is just a comment for others with a new Fantastic Vent, in case they have a similar issue.
About a year or so ago I had the
Scamp factory install a Fantastic Vent in my 13 foot
Scamp. It worked quite well and I was very happy, but I did not use it a lot initially. This past Feb and March, while I was in Florida, the fan started making a high-pitched squeal while running. I was not happy, but just avoided using the vent fan.
When I got home in April, I did some research to see if these could/should be lubricated and saw that others had had this problem. They reported that they had called Fantastic Vent, and it was suggested that they run the fan on "High" for several hours. They claimed that the new fans sometimes need the bearings to wear in.
I'm happy to report that I followed this suggestion, and within three hours, the fan is now running even quieter than when it was brand new. I still have a few months left on the warranty, but I'm pretty confident I won't have to bother with that now.
Thanks to everyone who reports on these forums, a little research here can solve many perceived or real problems.
