OK Title - not notarized

Relative bought a motorhome in Oklahoma (Cherokee Nation title) but didn't have it notarized, which is required here. Now we can't find the seller - very evasive. Oklahoma has a procedure called Title 42 but am not sure this would be valid when she has a title in hand. Also considering maybe a homemade RV title. Any input greatly appreciated.

Because you are still in OK I would suggest contacting the local Bar Association and asking for a consult with an atty that specialized in tribal issues. Usually costs less than $100.

But what do you mean "She has title in hand"?

At least in CA, trying to mask it as a "Home Made RV" would be considered fraud and get you in more than a small pile of trouble.

Welcome to the Forum Bryan.

I'm not acquainted with Oklahoma used vehicle laws.
In my area it's hard to find an agent that really knows........lol
Bob may be right in your situation.

I can't help, because I know nothing about motorhomes. Maybe check on a forum that has many more members that own that build than you'll ever find here on FiberglassRV:

A motorhome is a "vehicle", Donna. Surely you've heard of those...most/all require registration/ Title changes etc. when changing hands. Just like gen-you-wine "All Molded Fiberglass Trailers" ! Y'all up to speed now?

To O.P.:

If your relative has already tried to change ownership and is being refused because the Title in hand isn't notarized, the best and perhaps only choice would be to use whatever Oklahoma's version is of the so-called "bonded Title".

Most states have some version of this, which imposes a sort of waiting period in case somebody else turns up with a claim to a vehicle. In this case, the only person that MIGHT turn up would be the previous owner, and since you're trying to track them down anyway, who cares?

Just make sure to hang on to the proofs of the sale to them.

Yep Francesca, I've heard about motor vehicles... I currently own five. But there are different requirements for titling motor vehicles (anything with an engine) in Oregon vs a towable. Maybe other states are the same? Thus my comment.

In Oregon, to get a registration and title of ownership... it REQUIRES a title. And I'm glad. Bills of sale are for horses.
