Outside Water Pump and Tank?

We have a 1986 UHaul VT that no longer has an inside water tank for cooking and other inside tasks. Rather than give up the space where it used to sit (we now store things there), I was thinking of setting up an external water tank and pump for those few times each year we camp at a dry site. I was thinking about having a small pump connected with a hose to the outside city water inlet and the other side of the pump connected to a portable water container. I would set up an inside switch for the pump when we need to use it. Has anyone done anything like this? Any suggestions? I've found pumps at Camping World that would work, but haven't found a good water container yet that has an easy way to hook up the feed hose. Thanks for your help!

When the fresh water fill hose cracked on me on a long trip, I just used some gallon bottles refilled with water next to the sink. Low tech but simple.

I used a 5 gallon collapsible water jug in a slide in truck camper, I just put it under the sink and hooked the hand pump hose to it.

Thanks everyone for the good ideas. We've tried the "jug by the sink" method and it works OK, but we would like to have some water pressure to power the water heater, too, for clean dishes. I'll check out the 7-gallon carrier at Walmart and look at a couple different pumps, too.
