Trailer: Play Pac
Posts: 13
Hello all, I recently purchased a Playpac. This is my first trailer, and I am new to this site...so I have lots of questions. My first being that I am wanting to paint the vinyl walls inside the trailer. It was painted over once, put it was cracked and peeling, so I have stripped most of it off. I am wondering if anyone out there has done this before and what is best to use. Thank you...this is a great site.

FIRSTLY and most importantly, Liza, let me welcome you to our cozy l'il group of Glass Egg Lovers

As with ALL good paintjobs the best results ALWAYS start with the best prerperation job. I think I'd try to get as much of the old paint off as you can, then make sure all areas you want to paint have been 'scuffed', usually just a light sanding, just enough to remove any sheen that might be showing. Following that wipe all surfaces down with a good cleanser (mainly to remove any possible fingermarks which might leave a slight 'film' to which the paint may not stick as well to. You might even consider a coat of primer paint (specially usefull to ease the transition between color changes from the old to new paint.

If you are still unsure what to do, why not come out to your local Glass Egg Meet on the May long weekend at Bigfoot Campgroung in Harrison?? Many of us there have painted inside and outside our 'egg shells' LOL!!!!

Although I had a PlayPac at one time - the interior was already gone when I bought it so I never had to deal with it. As such - I glued carpeting onto the walls. Kind of a pain to do - but nice and cushy to lean against.

What I used in a Boler (different material than a PlayPac has, but still a vinyl-like face) was a special vinyl paint (made for car dashboards). Worked quite well on the rough ensollite, but when I've used it on smooth surfaces, it always flaked off.

I've also played around a little with the new "Plastic Paint". Made a haloween costume using the stuff. Very impressive and clearly will NOT flake off. Kind of on the thin side though and would definately need a primer coat first to cover the pattern on the original walls. Both the vinyl and plastic paints come in spray cans.

Most everybody else however has used assorted brush-on or roll--on paints.
