Porta gaz 3 way cooler ?

Has anyone had any experience with these coolers? My refrigerator kicked the bucket and I was thinking of putting one of these coolers in its place. I know that parta gaz says you should only use the cooler outdoors and Im sure thats due to venting. But I hope that the venting louvers on the trailer would be enough to take care of any venting and intake problems. Any ideas on this topic would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have a mobicool. It is good on gas or 120 volt, underpowered on 12 volt. It is a pain to install, still working out the details. The venting in the trailer seems to be good, however I need to seal the back of the cooler off from the rest of the trailer, and need to get to the back as that is where the controls are. I am camping this weekend, then hopefully building the seal next week. It will show up in the ourboler.com thread here when i have a working solution. For $209 (on sale) it is a much more cost effective alternative for sure.

Hi Sebastian, to FiberglassRV, we're glad you're here

Sorry, I can't help with your question about the Porta gaz 3 way cooler, I've never even heard about the brand. Hopefully someone will give you the info you seek!

I bought the Mobicool propane cooler from Canadian tire.

First trip out the tongue on the trailer broke, so we turned around. With that it was great to be able to throw the cooler in the car, run it from 12 volt and our food was fine.

Second trip out we got to camp, switched it to propane and it will not cool. Still working to sort this issue out.

I did put a co2 sensor in the trailer. While trouble shooting the trailer I left it burning in the middle of the floor with only the roof vent open a crack for a few hours and the alarm never went off.

Once install I have trouble seeing if the burner is lit at the bottom right, so I pull it out. So I would make sure you can pull it out, or can get access to the back from the outside. The dial on ours was also at the back, so access to that was also tough if you seal the heat and burner off from the trailer.

It does throw heat off the top, on warm days I used a computer fan to move more air which worked fine. The back stays cool, just above got hot.

My conclusion is it will work, but is more work to install and the controls and lighting require access.

I plan to work to see if I can get the cooler I have working (as Canadian tire has a no return once opened policy on this). If not I will use a cooler for the rest of the summer, stop shopping at Canadian Tire (not the first issue with their return policy) and decide between a real fridge and the 3 way cooler at Costco, with a real fridge currently more likely.
