First, tell us what you Volvo's owner's manual says about 'trailer towing limits'...

That must be one of those new fangled front wheel drive Volvo's then! No? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Then it looks like you could tow most of the 13' fiberglass models, although not loaded with a lot of heavy options, but you certainly wouldn't have much reserve.

BTW, they don't weigh 900 lbs... That was a sort of fiction put out by the manufacturers apparently to keep them under 1,000 lbs for some reason.

You will have a lot better towing experience if you add brakes to whatever you get.

As the manual probably explains, that weight limit has a lot of qualifications surrounding it; you need to follow all of the limits, including a limit on the total of the car, passengers, cargo, and trailer. You might find that you can only tow a 1500 lb trailer (and 1500 lb is a pretty typical 13-foot trailer when loaded) in combination with zero passengers and zero cargo in the car... which isn't likely to useful.

I agree with Frederick: with more specific information, a more useful answer can be provided.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

I am assuming this is a 4 cylinder car???

Basically, you can haul your tent and all your camping gear. Maybe, a teardrop or a Puck but that is basically it.

You need to think of getting a bigger tow vehicle - at least a 6 cylinder with the towing package.

The rear-wheel drive 740's were rated for 3500 pounds with a 4 cylinder; apparently a tow vehicle of choice in Europe.

Not necessarily. Many Volvos are not 4-cylinders, and none are very small cars. This is why the specific details are important.
