Started getting the carpet pulled out of the casita (floor) and it's coming off layer by layer (who ever said this was easy, needs their head examined!) But I am down to almost having the carpet backing out. My question is, how do you get the carpet glue up? I have started picking at it, but was wondering if there is a better way than picking at the glue. Thanks for the suggestions.

What are you replacing it with?? I pulled mine up 5 years ago but being as how I put laminate down I didn't worry about the glue and it was moderately easy. If you succeed in getting the glue up you will have to figure out what to do with the fiberglass coating so If your going with linoleum or along those line don't bother with the glue put down 1/4" luan plywood

I tried to sand down the high spots but once I realized
A} how difficult
B} that I was going to cover it with linolium
I decided to ignore the glue, problem solved ....as for the foam backing...I had a very stiff wire brush (think bbq wire brush. The bristles were very ridged ..I used this th help pull up the foam.

I don't know from personal experience, but have heard that a plexiglass ice scraper works too.

If you can get your hands on a Fein Multimaster ($$$) it includes a scraper (like a putty knife with a curved blade) that can be sharpened to a knife edge that allowed me to remove the thick dry glue layer that held up the back-splash above our kitchen sink. I did not want to cut away the paper surface of the sheetrock, so I sharpened the edge and discovered that (after some practice) I could literally split the paper layer, leaving half the thickness on the sheetrock and removing the other half thickness of it with the old glue.

I have worked frequently with Habitat for Humanity, and have found my Fein Multimaster to be indispensible, as no one else has one. I wouldn't want to be without it.

Another possible solution would be a furniture scraper, although that way would be al lot of work, as it is not powered ;-(

Has anybody thought of asking Casita what kind of glue it is? That would be a big step in then finding a solvent to remove it.
