quick use of hot water?

i'm thinking of getting a small trailer for use with mountain biking: keep all my junk in the trailer, drive to trails, ride the bike, shower, go to the office.
question is, will the propane water heaters heat the water effectively while i'm biking? any other barriers anyone can think of that will make this more hassle than it is worth? thanks for your input. bb

Welcome to the FGRV forum. I have not had to wait very long (about 1/2hr) for hot water in either a 3 or 5 gallon water heater.

not only is the water heater fast it holds heat for a long time. I have showered in my Scamp more than 24hrs after shutting off the water heater in full comfort. So you could actually heat the water before your trip, then turn it back on upon arrival. Eventhough you don't need to do that, it would insure plenty of hot water when and where you need it.

It sounds like a traditional water heater would be fine for your application.

If you're looking for on-demand hot water without any wait at all - you could consider a tankless water heater. I got a Girard unit off eBay for my Scamp 13'. Hot water flows after a 10 seconds and you don't have to tow around 10 gal of dead weight water.

However I must admit the technology has limitations especially in consistent temperature control - it's fiddly and you have to be forgiving. So I can only suggest that you find a demo unit at a vendor or RV show and judge for yourself.
