Repairing water spout on plastic tank

My overflow spout cracked on my water tank and this is one way to fix it.

Get 2 washers with holes large enough to fit over the spout.
Hold the first washer with needle nose pliers and heat with a small torch.
When it's good and hot slide it over the spout and press it against the tank so that it welds itself to the tank. Let cool.
Run a thick bead of silicone around the second washer and slide it over the spout just till the silicone starts to squeeze out.
Leave it for 24 hours if you can.

I hope they were stainless steel washers, so they won't rust up later on.

Or you can replace it with a rubber "Uniseal" fitting that is made for putting inlet and outlets into this type of tank. They come in a wide variety of diameters. This product is specifically made for customizing and/or retrofitting both old and new tanks.
