Replacement of icebox in 1978 Scamp trailer

Scamp no longer sells the replacement icebox (IB35-3330) for the older trailers. Their vender, Formco, no longer makes this icebox. We have looked at Vintage Trailer Supply with no luck. We want to use an icebox to keep the trailer as original as possible. Any leads or suggestions?

call around to the RV scrap yards. You might well find one. Also keep an eye on craigslist in the RV and the trailer section.

Replacement of icebox in 1978 Scamp trailer

I was surprised to see they have been discontinued. They were still being made until recently. Guess that means fridges are standard in Scamps now?

Still, thereís hope in take-outs. Iceboxes are pretty useless for refrigeration (we use ours for dry goods and a Coleman ice chest for perishables, which cools better and lasts longer). Lots of folks replace theirs with dorm fridges, DC compressor fridges, or just open storage.

In addition to RV scrap yards, wouldnít hurt to post a wanted ad here. You may find someone remodeling their trailer and getting rid of an old icebox.

Do you still have the door? Can you repair or make a new ice one?
From time to time we have had to "convert" our all electric refrigerator to an ice box by using large baggies when parked in the shade in national forests for a while where the solar panels would not keep up and there was no other way to charge the batteries.

I have an original icebox in good shape from my 16 foot scamp (1995). You can have it if you will pay for the shipping.

Scamp Icebox

How much do you think shipping is on the icebox from your place (Missouri to Tucson AZ? Can you be a bit more specific on the condition? Do you have any photos? Thanks so much.
