Replacing Gas Valve Hot Water Heater

Good Morning,

I'm rehabbing a 1997 16' Scamp. The hot water heater is currently not functional. The pilot will not stay lit.

I've already replaced the thermocouple with no change. Next step is replacing the gas valve, it might be the issue since the spring mechanism in the knob is broken and it's the original valve.

I got this replacement valve and confirmed it is the correct match: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...ood/91602.html

My question is, has anyone else done this? And if so, how much force did it require to remove the old gas valve? I've disconnected all the gas lines and now just need to unscrew the unit from the trailer. It's seized on there and I'm not sure how much force is safe to apply. I'm hesitant to apply any sort of penetrating oil or applying percussion to loosen it.

Any advice from anyone who has done this before would be appreciated.
Thanks!
-Bre

We replaced ours, and it required a very large set of channel lock style pliers and a bit of force to start the turn counterclockwise to loosen it. Once it started moving it went smoothly. No penetrating oils used at all.
We got the new style valve also, and one of the images on that link shows the correct orientation for the gas line to connect. You might think it should appear level when done, but then the existing gas line won't line up.
