replacing rivets

I'm in the process of removing the original brackets for the curtains.As each bracket on the front and rear windows has 2 rivets,I need to replace these now 12 holes with appropriate screws(I'm thinking pan head,butyl,and nice finishing nut on the inside.My question,for those who have done the deed already on their Boler,is length and size of screw.

Even though you apparently live on the "Sunshine Coast" of B.C. I know it still rains there, and often.

So spend a bit more and be sure to purchase stainless steel fasteners.

To measure the length needed, drill out one of the rivets, then insert a bamboo skewer through the hole and carefully mark each side with your thumb nail. Add enough length for your washers and nut and you have the necessary length.
