I used rag rugs on my 13.. a stolen idea. There are lots of off the shelf alternatives. I think this idea is great!

Ours were equally simple. We went to IKEA and found small (12" x 24") woolen rugs for $2.99 each that we mounted on new I-beam curtain rods. They are great!

I have also seen and read about linen napkins being used. Sometimes you can find neat and fancy ones. But....I'm a guy so I may not know of what I speak. (Or shouldn't know, anyway.)
