I am replacing many of the rivets on my 1997
Scamp 13. I've researched on this forum but decided on rivets rather than stainless screws because I'm cheap
Rivet size - I need to replace my cord port, drilled out the rivets and found they are a hair over 3/16" thick and 3/8" length from the drilled-off end to the beginning of the bulge. Does this mean I need a 3/8" grip rivet? I assume the width is a bit over 3/16" because the rivet expands when set.
Second question - should I have aluminum rivets with an aluminum mandrell or steel mandrell or does that not matter?
Thanks!
I used these posts as primary research, thanks for the info -
