Exclamation scamp gray water terminal

Just bought 16' 2000 scamp and cannot figure out how to drain gray water tank. I see where the drain is (3" like blackwater drain) but it has no cap on it and a little flange thing sort of surrounding it.

Is it meant to stay open and just drain out gray water? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There should be a valve on it just like the blackwater drain and a cap.

The valve on the grey water tank should be kept closed when in use to stop the water from dripping out - at most campgrounds its a no no to let your grey water drain to the ground. The cap is just an extra safety measure for those times when you forget to close the valve. If yours is missing you can pick one up at any RV shop. The photo is what the valve should look like - if its missing it can also be picked up at any RV shop.

We have a Scamp 16 as well. Even more basically, the Scamp 16 requires you to connect the sewer hose to the black tank first and dump it and then to move it over to the gray tank and dump that.

Yeah, Scamp never has figured out how to have one valve for dumping. When I purchased my Scamp, the PO had traded the gray water cap for one like below and provided me with a gray water garden hose. The garden hose screwed on to a fitting on the sewer elbow. Still a PITA to use, but better than moving the stinky slinky from one valve to the other mid-camping. YMMV

Donna,
I purchased a cap like that for my gray water tank. It makes it easy to connect a small hose direct to my portable tank when we stay more than a couple of days, then I can just take the portable tank to the dump station. Normally we just use the slinky and move it from black and then to gray for weekend trips.

I use that cap as well - works well when dry camping and need to drain off a bit of grey water to a portable tote - only need about 2 feet of hose to drain it - no slinky needed.
