Will someone please tell me what to do with these wires? I've googled and googled. I've asked on fb. And please tell me like I'm a 3rd grader. I won't think you're condescending. I'm at a loss. 3 hrs on this yesterday and this morn I'm just staring at it. I'm pulling her to the mountains shortly leaving around 2 today...so I'm going to pop back in here in just a few mins while i get the inside prepared to tow...my time is running low today. Other info I know if it helps...I have a 6 pin..in NC I don't need a light on my tag...and I don't have brakes...and yep that's all I know. I may should have waited until I got to Asheville because my dad or grandfather would have it done in no time :/ (like seriously say to me...duh Kim...red to red. Black to black...)

Worse case scenario is to go buy some mountables a until I get to dads....but they make me nervous because they so low.

Is that the right or left tailight as you look at the rear of the trailer?

What the awesome guys on fb told me makes more sense now after more searching on here and finding this thread. I was hoping id get some Scamp specific knowledge and the two together made my lightbulb go on! Note to self...save threads that you know you'll need later because later you can't find them :/ Now to find the thread that says what screws someone used. I know I saw it one day.

Were you able to figure it out? I was asking about which side so you could tell me what color wires you had coming out of the actual trailer.

There is a Scamp wiring diagram in the doc center and if you can tell me the wire colors on each side, I think I could lead you in the right direction.

Assuming that the trailer has not previously rewired. The Scamp wiring diagram in the Doc Center lists the following.

Right Side:

White - Ground
Green - Running Lights
Brown - Turn/Brake Light
Yellow - ? (Maybe Backup)

Left Side:

White - Ground
Green - Running Lights
Brown - Turn/Brake Light
Yellow - ? (Maybe Backup)

From what you said, it doesn't appear that you have all the same colors.

As for as the new tail light:

White is probably ground since it has the round lug on it.

Red may be the Turn/Brake light since it is the larger size.

Black may be the running lights.

You could hook it up and see how it pans out, may have to switch the red and black on the new Tail light to get the proper function. Hitting the brakes should make the brightest lightwise from the new Tail light.

Hope this helps!

I'm hooking them up like you said. When my mom gets here i'll have another person to help tell me what's going on. If they don't work I'm off to get some mountables until I get to my dad or grandfathers. Thank you so much. I'll let you know

Coming out of the Scamp I have red black green and white. Or it is white and dirty turning yellow or yellow and fading white...but the part closest to the interior is white and possibly not weathered.

Kim, it may help if you were to look at the wiring on the inside of the trailer and do your connections from there. I found removing the rear bench was the easiest way to sort it out. Someone may have added on the inside a short piece of odd ball wiring/colouring just to make it long enough to go to the outside. Always better regardless to do your connections on the inside of the trailer.

Edit to add: Kim it just accord to me that the confusion over the wiring colours may be due to the wires that you show coming out of your scamp are not the scamps main wiring - they are the wires from the old lights you took off? Is that correct? You will find the main Scamp wiring you need to connect to in the colours David indicated on the inside of the trailer.

Wire colors

Just for reference, since a lot of us seem to be installing these LED lights (highly recommended). Just cut off the old lights and solder to the wires on the outside is the easiest thing to do with no messing around inside. So:

black is reverse
green is tail light
red is turn light
white is ground

I believe the LED lights are:

white is ground
black is tail light
red is turn light
