Scamp shower pan caulk

I happened to take a look in our Scamp 16 shower today and noticed that the caulk between the wall and the shower pan had split. The shower has never been used so I’m not worried about old damage but what’s the best choice of caulk to fix this? It looks like it failed because the factory bead was too thin and the flexing panels just tore it apart.

I would remove the old caulk, then use an additional rivet or screw to pull the shower pan and bulkhead closer together to close up the gap. I would then caulk the seam with 3M 4200. Amazon has it for $14. Marine stores and home centers also might have it.

Any good kitchen and bath silicone adhesive caulk will do fine. I'm certain that is what is used at the factory.
As Jack L said, a couple extra strategically placed fasteners wouldn't hurt.

Oh, I like that solution. Dumb question - is that shower wall tight against the exterior shell? Since I’m not yet set up for riveting, I think I’ll go with a SS screw and associated hardware. Wondering about screw length. And should I use the 4200 to seal the screw hole or something like butyl?

Good luck.. my layout four Scamp 16 has always had this problem but with the wall and not the shower pan. Re-caulked it once and found it separated after the first trip. Not a big worry for me since I dont use the shower. The flexing on the road is a problem. I doubt that caulk will keep it sealed but for your case maybe something like a flashing on the wall that overlaps the pan would keep the shower water contained.

I ended up using 3M 4200 on the shower pan/wall joint. The silicone caulk failed where it attached to the plastic trim on the top edge of the shower pan. There was virtually no adhesion, it just peeled off allowing the gap to open. The 4200 is supposed to have good shear strength and is supposed to work well with gelcoat. I’ll report back.

Please do.. after a few hundred miles. If anything will work for me, 4200 is likely it.

There may be better stuff, I have towed my Scamp 80,000 miles so far with the original caulk in the shower stall and it is doing well.
The fit of the fixture may be your issue, so Jack L may have had your best solution. That is to make sure the stall is firmly attached before recaulking.
