Scamp window question

On the outside, I pulled off the black piece of something holding the window in place, cleaned it & the place it came from. When I reinserted it, it appears to fit better than it did however its now apx 1/4" too short. Was I supposed to gently stretch it? Do I need to replace it? I have one more, maybe two days above freezing left so I'd like to fix it now.

Often those rubber strips (extrusions) shrink in length over the years. I would simply fill that 1/4 inch gap with a small amount of LEXEL or similar (non-silicone). It is good you cleaned the window frame channel. When I happen to wash the Scamp outside, I direct a stream of water from the garden hose into the weep holes to wash out any debris. They should drain freely. Then make sure to towel up any water I may have sprayed inside.

I had a small gap in the bottom of the seal on the front window of my old Scamp. I filled it with white caulk and after it dried colored it black with a magic marker. Looks and works good. Hey, I work with what I have, that's just how I roll.

Heating it may help it stretch. Try boiling it.

thanks, guys. I went with a fill-in & will try heating and stretching next summer.
