Scamp windows

Has anyone replaced their front & back Scamp windows with ones that can be opened for ventilation? With the curve in the the big windows I'm not sure if this could be done. We would love to have better cross-ventilation in our 13-footer.

We would like to hear from anyone who has done this. Thanks!

I know that some Scamps have the rear sliding window (my 13 does). It is listed on the Scamp parts catalog. I have no idea if they would swap straight out or if modifications would need to be made.

I've purchased the rear sliding window for my Scamp...haven't gotten it in yet....I can tell you the heighth of the slider is a bit more than an inch taller than the solid plexi...and I think the width is maybe 1/8" wider in the slider too. Better than the slider be larger than the opening for the plexi

AFAIK, no window manf makes one for the compound curve on the front of Scamp or the front and rear of some Bolers.

I have considered cutting a hole in the center of the front plexiglass and installing a flat crank-out window (RV or from a pickup truck canopy/topper) and fairing the windows together with some custom wooden wedges. The gravel shield should be sufficient to keep road-rain out (I had a similar but larger setup on my previous Jayco 16). The advantage would be to have airflow through the trailer when it is parked facing into the wind (The front half of a Scamp 13' has poor ventilation).

I sometimes regret not installing my fantastic fan with the hatch opening forward to get better air flow. I have recently seen so Euro hatches that can be opened with either end or side as the 'catching' edge, or the whole thing lifted.

maybe sally and fred hochgraf would post some picture of the square frame window mod they did on there egg. it went by making a frame make out of some kind of plastic that boater use to make galley stuff with i think . it was a nice mod he did the same to get a square door in place of the aircraft door .

Mine is a bad example as half of the window has been removed to make way for a household AC unit by the PO

I'm currently trying to find a replacement window pane so I can remove this bulky AC unit. It's turning into a bit of a wild goose chase (Scamp uses a different window manu. now, the original manu. referred me to someone else, then that company referred me to yet another company because while they sell windows they do not sell replacement parts, the last company says I need to remove the window to get the serial # and then they can provide the proper parts). Fun!

I really like the way the window looks and it would be great to have the ventilation but it looks like the back of the Scamps pictured are flatter than our '82. Does anyone know if the shape was changed? I'm not sure the replacement window would fit the curve of our Scamp.

FYI: I called the parts department at Scamp today & spoke to Justin about the sliding rear replacement window. It turns out that our '82 was made from the old mold with the curved back. Later Scamps have a flatter back where the window goes. Justin said we could replace our window with the sliding one but he didn't recommend it. He said it will most likely leak. So I guess we'll go to Plan B.

But wait, we don't have a Plan B...

Plan B - well, is there anyway that you could use fiberglass and bring out a more flat area to put the windows in? Just a thought - and maybe someone else will come up with more ideas.

Why not make a window within a window. Simular to the way they do for rear windows on trucks. The shape whould stay the same but make the sliding area a smaller window in the middle.
