Seam mouldingss

My Trillium has been sitting for some time and I’m getting ready to restore her. The mouldings that cover up the seams are have shrunk and have become wavy. Are these done and ready for the trash or can they be revived. If I need to buy new can I still get them somewhere?

Mensie, if it is plastic molding, just pull it off and drop it in a pot of close to boiling water for 10 minutes. That will straighten it. Then re-install it.

This problem is also very common with Trillium t molding.

It sounds like some kind of bizarre soup, but John is correct. The T molding in a Trillium is not glued to the shell, there is a socket strip that the piping at the bottom of the T snaps into. It pulls right off and snaps back in.

I have removed all the t-molding and need to replace the tape. Where can I purchase the new tape? I have searched the internet unsuccessfully.

I am unsuccessful in locating a source of this T-molding. My husband has disposed of all but a sample piece. Can you recommend a source?

When we restored our Boler interior, the inside had some of the original tape clinging on for dear life, some was glued in place and a lot was gone. After long and careful thought and weeks searching the net, we pulled the remaining tape off and carefully glued the elephant skin back where it had started to come loose. We then filled the gap with a flexible caulk and smoothed it to blend into the skin. 5 years later and 5 winters of sub-zero weather, I will have to do some minor touch-ups where the skin has pulled away from the caulk [the caulk did not move]

On edit: If anybody else is stripping out their old stuff. I and others would like to get a piece or two. Throwing it out is not always a good idea for others that may only need one or two lengths
