Wow! They’re basically offering a wholesale price without buying it outright, taking a 40% commission, and leaving you the risk of loss if they make a poor sale and no benefit if it sells for a better price. Lousy deal. Try some other dealers. Ask whether they will list it online- RVTrader or similar.
But for the time you spend searching for a better deal, you could list and sell it yourself and be done. That’s why 90% or more of used molded
fiberglass trailer sales are private party transactions. Well-priced and well-presented units often sell within days, and your location is prime. Think of it as earning $5-6K for a few days’ work!
There are a number of old threads about how to sell a trailer privately with helpful- though occasionally differing- opinions on personal safety and funds transfer. The Google search bar works pretty well to find them.
I
sold a Roadtrek a few years ago, my first private sale ever. Listed on Craigslist and posted a link in the Class B Forums. I did some homework about how to safely show the unit (not at home) and how to navigate the transfer of funds (wire transfer) and
title transfer (notarized at my bank after verifying the transfer). It was a little scary and I did have to deal with some aggressive flippers, but in the end all went smoothly. Send me a DM if you’d like more details.
For a
Scamp I might consider the Scamp Classifieds group on Facebook to list. I would recommend turning off comments to avoid nit picking by people not looking to buy. Serious buyers can message you privately.
