Trailer: 13 ft Scamp 1999

We purchased a 1999 13" scamp last fall. The previous owner had adapted the wiring to work with a 4 wire flat plug. All lights brakes and signals work except the side markers. At one point before I bought the trailer I saw them lit up so I know they work. Any ideas as to what needs to be changed?

(It has finally warmed up in MN so we are hoping to try the maiden voyage very soon!)

The side markers are tied in with the tail lights so it appears you have an open wire somewhere.

Turn on your headlights and the tail lights and side markers sould all light up at the same time.
