Sloped kitchen - HELP

Hi,

New owner of a 1971 Trillium and wondering how to go about fixing a few things. I just picked up my new trailer and not sure where to start as I’m overwhelmed with some big issues I didn’t realize until after…..the top kitchen cabinets are sloped forward and the bottom cabinet is sloped backward. I checked the floor and it’s level so I’m not sure why the cabinets are so out of level??

A few other things

- the door has a bit too much play in it and when you open the door after it’s locked it unlocks?!??? How can I make adjustments to this to keep it locked?

- the fridge worked for a week after I bought it when plugged in and now nothing??

Looking for some advice if I bought a dud or not?!?

Thanks in advance

Melanie

Mel, The back slope on the kitchen is just a Trillium, "feature". The sag on the upper cabinets happens because Trillium didn't put any supports between the counter and the upper cabinets. This problem is worse on the Trillium 4500. The kitchen is longer and still not supported.

But don't worry. Fibreglass is "plastic". That is, it will deform under stress and stay that way. All you need to do is stress it back up. I use two telescoping support bars in the winter to push the rear side of the kitchen and the roof vent back up. You can get these supports at Princess Auto. Currently they are on sale:

The reviews are not great on these, however they provide enough support to get the job done.

For more Trillium advise check out this post that I did recently:

I see that you have a front dinette 1300 Deluxe. Nice!

Thanks David. I have ordered 2 support bars. Is there details on how to go about doing this without stressing the roof etc? I didn't see any details in the link below. Oddly the roof doesn't appear out of the norm.

I doubt that those support bars can generate enough force to damage anything. Though I would not put them on the Ensolite. Instead, I put them on the flange of the upper cabinets, where they attach to the trailer shell and on the frame of the roof vent.

Since you don't see any slope to the roof, you might not get much improvement.

Ok I’ll take a better look and hope there’s some adjustments to be had with this solution. Thanks.

I have a bit of a loose door lock on the door and it shows the lock on the inside moving but there’s some play in the mechanisms and the door unlocks. Do you know how to adjust or fix this so I can lock the door?

The Bargman L400 latch is no longer made. Some people have had success installing other brands, but there is some fibreglass work involved.

However, if your door is popping open during travel, the culprit is likely door sag. There are several threads on this subject.

Hi , My '75 1300 has the same sloped "feature" as yours, both upper and lower. I bought the trailer new in 1975 and it has always been that way. If the rest of the roof looks level, then i would not try to jack it up. I do as david does in the winter and use a support bar to bear the weight of any snow load, though i remove any snow after a storm..
