Do a google search for crate fans. They usually run on either batteries or 12V. However, efficient isn't something you get with a 6 inch fan on batteries.

I just mean that a 6 inch fan isn't going to move much air, no matter what powers it, but with batteries it also isn't going to run long at a high speed.

You can also get the 12V fans at auto stores, but I'm not sure all of them also run off batteries. They usually clip onto something which may be more convenient than the kind meant to hook onto a crate.

I have a larger Ryobi fan that runs off a rechargeable battery. It isn't the most convenient to store but it moves a lot more air than the little ones. It takes 110V to recharge, though.

I don't know the fans in question, but a larger fan can move more air with less noise (lower RPM). What I'm not sure of is amps per CFM of air when talking about large vs small fans....

Due to this if I build a computer I lean towards large, quiet, fans....

OK, what is the model of you Ryobi and how large is it?

Ami - Wallmart sells small fans that run on batteries or plug in. We use them in the office where I work because the landlord won't let us have any items that use power other than computers and task lights. They work quite well and move the air. There are at least a couple of different sizes.

I bought a 6" fan yesterday at lowes for $6.50 on sale it runs on batteries or a/c .....it runs on 6 volt so it would be very easy to go to radio shack and get a cigarette lighter plug that puts out six volt and plugs into the fan receptacle. oh by the way it only puts out .35 amp

The 12V fan at WM is a little bigger with a fold out stand.

One less adaptor to carry around and wonder ...

OK, what is the model of you Ryobi and how large is it?

It's the only cordless fan in their line. It was designed to fit the 18V Ryobi-One tool line battery, and I think it comes without a battery. (I had the tools, which I highly recommend, at least the set with drill and circular saw.) I have one lithium battery which will power it longer. (I'm guessing 5-8 hrs but have not tried.)

Down size is that it is about 15 x 24 inches.

I happened to see Endless Breeze this morning on Camping World's website... I was thinking I might be able to use it with our outdoor 12 volt plug when there's no breeze under the awning.... create a cool breeze, and maybe blow some mosquitoes away? It's on sale at CW... less than $50 if you're a member.

Unlike some of the US big box discount stores, you don't have to be a member to shop at CW, it just saves ten per cent if you are a member. Fan's listed at $55 non member price. You might want to look up the Michigan store on their website and give them a call. Sherry
