Stablizing at the campsite

My antique - '65 - trailer has antique tripod stablizers which are a pain for an old guy like myself to utilize because I have to get down on the ground and use a tiny crank to get them set up and working. Then the same to get unset and leave. Got recommendations of modern devices that might be easier to work with? ty

BAL stabilizers are very popular for smaller trailers. They come in different sizes and weight ratings. Many people use a cordless drill to crank them down.

They’re available from many retailers. I just pulled one up at random so you could see it. Shop around.

You can buy feet for them.

I put 4 on my 16' Scamp, two crosswise about 1/2 way between the wheels and the rear, and two on the front Vee fore and aft. The different directions helps control the "wiggle" from side to side as they are pretty still along them.
I also use a 3/4" socket on a cordless drill and it works great. There is a tendency to jerk the drill and twist your wrist when the going gets stiffer.
I have used the crank to twist harder to level the trailer, raising the low side or end and then grounding the opposite to stabilize.
I have used this setup on the last trip and it is easy, quick and no need to get on my hands and knees to pull down Attwoods etc.
Much more stable as well.

I use a cordless impact with 3/4 socket for my stabilizers. The impact stops the kick back of the drill

Many drills have a torque setting which will limit the wrist snapping.

I have one of the impact drivers and I am going to try it some time today and let you know how well it works.
This is not an impact wrench, but rather one of the little impact screwdriver that come in sets of battery powered drills.
By the way I love this thing anyway as you can drive a big screw with little twist on the wrist and also gives very good control of tightening a fastener.
