Suburban furnace turns on by itself

Hello, I have a 2017 Casita SD with a bit of a glitch. We were camping in the Redwoods last week and the nights got down to freezing. For several nights the Suburban furnace cycled on by itself even though the selector had clicked into the off position. Anyone have any experience of this issue?

Thanks, Jim

Check that the selector switch is actually opening the contacts in the thermostat.

Furnace cycling

There's an on/off switch hidden on the bottom of the thermostat. Left is off right is on. It's hard to move

Thanks ehoepner, I will look for the switch, just as glad to know you can turn it off if needed!

I had the same situation, then I found the on/off switch.

I had that switch fail, so I replaced the thermostat with an inexpensive one from Home Depot.

Thanks Dennis, I’ll try the switch first but may get to Home Depot in the end 😁

You can also install a toggle switch in the live input to the thermostat.

If you replace it, make sure any electronic thermostat you choose at Home Depot has self contained batteries. Trailer furnaces do not supply the 24V AC that most home thermostats require.

The Suburban furnace in my Scamp has a switch on the right side of the furnace about half way back. This switch does not cut power, it only opens the circuit to the thermostat. If your thermostat works otherwise this switch can be used as a master off switch instead of the switch on the thermostat.

P.S. I don't know why the attached file of the switch is displayed upside-down.

Good point. The one I used was not Electronic, but a Johnson Controls version of the one I was replacing.

The off/on switches in those thermostat have been known to break. If you haven't figured it out might be worth looking.
Otherwise might have a wire with insulation skinned causing path to be bypassing the switch some where.
