Just wondering if anyone might be able to get some pics of the 12 volt electrical on their Surfsides. Mine is a mess and I'm just wondering how it might have be done with to start. Looking for how the main distrubution from the battery was done more then anything else.

thanks
Kent

Kent,

I don't have an originally wired Surf Side, but I did some creative wiring few years back to some 6 volt batteries that included the installation of a converter, 1000W inverter, inline water pump and a few lights and dc outlets. There is also some basic AC wiring for an air conditioner that I installed (when I moved here from Canada ... desparately needed) and an AC light when we use a serviced site. I have the schematic and I can describe where I put everthing. If you want to see it, let me know.

Sorry I can't help you either, Kent. It seems that the electrical is the weak spot in a 30 year old trailer. Mine has been altered considerably; I, also, would appreciate a schematic or picture. There is no schematic in the owner's manual.

Kent,

Here is the schematic for my trailer. I no longer have the charge from the truck (didn't need it), but otherwise it is the same. I mounted two 220 Ah 6 volt batteries on the rear bumper (after some modifications by a welder), and added a few things to allow me to avoid having to hook up to power over a weekend ... keeps me out of those RV sites ... I hate those ...

It's probably not what you are looking for, but if you describe what you are powering in your trailer, I could probably give you some ideas on what I would do to wire it. There are lots of other folks on this site who will do the same I am sure. Let me know bud.
