Table modification ideas!

So I have a '75 trillium 1300. The boyfriend and I are, let's just say, not small people. We are finding it a bit of a squeeze getting in and out of the Dinette benches. Has anyone moded the table to allow better access to the benches without compromising the stability and size of the bed when the dinette is turned down?

If you look at the mods I did to our 13' Scamp, I think you could do the same to your Trillium. Scamp still sells the hardware. I replaced our factory table top with a custom built two piece unit that was hinged. It was supported by drawer slides when extended. The small table version made it very easy to sit behind or next to, yet allowed one to extend the table to full length while seated. Click on our avatar and go to our albums to see all the pictures.

One member modified their table with tracks underneath so it would slide back and forth.

I wanted the floor space for the dog at night, so I made a pedestal for ours. This makes it easy to slide back and forth. Unfortunately, because of the shape of the wall, the original front table doesn't work well. We made the rear a permanent bed so I took that table and cut it down. Raz

On Trillium 4500's, they have a leaf in the table. When it is removed, it is much easier to sit down.

We only use our front table. The rear 'table' is a sheet of plywood made permanently into a bed. Under the front table, we have drawer slides that allow sliding the table to either side which makes it easier to access the LH side which is next to the sink.

Thanks for all the ideas! I especially like the idea of a hinged table. However may make the hinged section a bit smaller
