My New 2014 16` Scamp is leaking. On our last trip there was a rain storm and when we got up there was a wet spot right by the side dinette by the dogs water dish, the dish was on the elevated floor. We searched everywhere and could not find evidence that water came in from above, crawled under camper and searched for pipe leaks and nothing. Blamed it on the dog because her dish was empty, we figured she pawed at her dish and knocked the water over since her dish was empty. Poor baby Today was the first time we had a hard rain in awhile. Sure enough water is coming in through the, i think where the air filter screen is. I have a water basin catching it while it drips drips. When it drys up i will have to get up there and see where it is coming in, if i can. I will call Scamp to find out how this can be fixed. (AC was never used) Carl

Sometimes the AC mounting bolts loosen up enough to let the sealing gasket leak. Maybe they just need to be snugged up again and a little Threadlocker used.

Yes that may work, just trying to figure how to take off the interior cover to get to the four bolts without breaking the interior cover. Does it just snap off? Any body ever take one off ? Carl

Well i think i fixed it, tractors1 was right. The hardest thing was getting the cover down, of which i did not do. There were supposed to be 8 screws 2 on each side. Scamp only used 2 on one side and i guess the knobs held the cover up on the other side. I took off the air filter cover and i was able to see and get a socket wrench on two of the bolts and it stopped leaking that quick. Thanks for your help, I learned a lot about my AC going through tons of google searches. Carl

In fact I thought I recalled some manufactures instruction’s to check the bolts after some period of time, but now I don't see it (Still, keep in mind that most gaskets compress over time). What I did find was at least one manufacturer who specified the torque that the bolts should be tightened to. While it should be obvious that the the roof AC gasket might leak if the bolts are too loose.. they also should not be too tight, and they should be evenly tightened according to the specifications of the manufacturer, which are based on the gasket design and material. In the case of many Dometic units, that is 40-50 INCH pounds. See page ten of http://www.dometic.com/QBankFiles3/E...nual_17591.pdf
