The trick to it is to build the trailer as a frameless monocoque, using as much air and as little structure as possible. The stuff that has to be there should be made of skinned foam or skinned honeycomb. Most parts and structure are made, not purchased.

The teardrop is a little more than a third of the weight of typical tears of similar size, and weight schedules for the fiver indicate that we've got quite a bit of headroom in that 3,000 lb. figure, including water and folding bicycles.

We've had a 13' Burro since 1997 and have done quite a few modifications. we like going into the backcountry. Raised and strengthened the frame plus larger axle and wheels. Also lengthened it front and back for bikes and an aluminum storage box. 210 watts of solar and 4 lead acid batteries. Lastly on the outside a 8'x10' awning. Inside the bed is permanent with 26 extra gallons of fresh water under it. The fridge is 5.8 cu ft 12 volt (only). We were in Az. a month ago and one day it reached 117 deg. and the NovaKool stayed at 39 deg.

Perfect RV for us is a full bath and a couch along with queen bed, dinette, and kitchen, reasonable storage in molded fiberglass and lightweight.

My 17’ Casita bed is my only complaint. My next rig will have a bed that allows both occupants to get out of bed without having to climb over the person on the outside edge.
